Prosecutors in Portugal have stated a rabbi for the time being involved in the naturalization of the Russian Oligarch and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, whose assets were frozen in the UK after the attack of Russia on Ukraine, was involved.
The Chairman of the Jewish community of Porto, Daniel Litvak, was initially taken first in the context of possible cases of “influence, active corruption, counterfeiting of documents, money laundering or even tax evasion”.

Thereafter, all the descendants of Sephardic Jews, which persecuted at the end of the 15th century and was expelled by the Iberian Peninsula, allows to apply for Portuguese citizenship. A certificate of the corresponding descent of Abramovich was issued by the Jewish community of the city of Porto.
